6 Pinterest Photo Tips

Pinterest has brought out the photographer in me. I’ve compiled a few tips for you in your Pinterest journey.

Photo Tip #1

Pin your own photos

Lots of people just reshare and reshare. Thats great for the first few weeks. Once you’ve got a grasp on the technology upload a few of your photos.

Photo Tip #2

Add text to your photo

Experiment with dark fonts or light fonts. People love “LOOKING” at pins. If it’s not pretty or bright, it may not do the trick.

*This was a photo I took of a boquet of flower from forever ago! Bring back old snaps with new inspired text.*

Photo Tip #3

Add color to your text

Post a few variations of your quote with different typography in each image. Try using all shads of blue. Try a rainbow of colors. Work with black and white.

There is no 1 perfect color on pinterest, pinners love all things pretty.

Photo Tip #4

Conduct a Drive By Shooting

A pinners most deadly weapon is their own camera. Log offline for an hour and drive through your neigboorhood. Take picture of flowers, flags, balloons, bike riders and anything that catches your eye. Even if you take 60 pictures and most of them stink, you’re likely to find a few jems.

If you’ve got a smart phone download “Frametastic” and quickly add a set of pictures to a frame. It even lets you pick a color for the frame, white, black, gray, purple, and more.

Photo Tip #5

Expect people to share your photo.

One of my first personal uploaded pins was re pinned within 5 minutes. It was crazy “Wow someone saw that, and they liked it!!”

A few days later I pinned a quote and bam 14 pins that night.

Some pins move slowly, some move really fast. Expect variations and keep taking great photos!

Photo Tip #6

Focus on beauty

What you focus on expands. Focus on finding beauty. Pretty things get pinned more. People just don’t want to share an ugly image. Yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so have a blast!
